All About YANTICS
Our Mission
YANTICS is committed to building a dynamic community of artists and entrepreneurs who are driven by innovation and collaboration. Our mission is to provide tools, resources, and a network that supports personal and professional growth, helping our members to create meaningful impacts in their communities and beyond, particularly Afro-Caribbean creatives impacted by systemic exclusion.
Our Story
YANTICS began as a simple idea developed by Siya Gwaan and her mom—a vision to create an online space where young people could connect, promote, and collaborate. At fifteen years old, Siya recognized the lack of spaces specifically designed for youth-driven content and decided to fill that gap by creating a platform that was by youth, for youth.
Initially intended as a hub for teens to network, showcase their talents, and share their work,
YANTICS quickly grew into something larger. In 5 years YANTICS had expanded its demographic to include young Torontonians aged 13 to 29 Working alongside close friends Smyrna Wright, and Shanice Williams, Siya honed her entrepreneurial skills—skills she had first developed through programs like Summer Company—and began collaborating with a wide circle of creatives, all united by the mission to help each other succeed.
What began as a space for fashion, entertainment, and youth-driven content has evolved into a thriving community platform that highlights Afro-Caribbean culture, mental health, and artistic expression. Over the years, YANTICS has grown to include workshops, events, and live performances, showcasing artists, musicians, photographers, and change-makers from across Toronto.
Today, YANTICS stands as a testament to the power of youth, creativity, and community. From its humble beginnings to becoming a platform recognized across the city, our mission remains the same: to connect grassroots creatives, support their journey toward self-sustainability, and bridge the gap between talent and opportunity. We continue to grow, particularly by supporting Afro-Caribbean creatives impacted by systemic exclusion, and we invite you to be a part of that journey.
